Claire started out as a follower of my wellbeing instagram account which I later merged into my business one to keep everything a bit more streamline. Her ability to run marathons fascinated and impressed me!
Furthermore, like me, Claire has three young boys so we instantly bonded and haven’t looked back!
Claire lives in Scotland but the beautiful world of social media keeps us in touch regularly, if even just to send each other pictures of our Friday night wine and box set in front of the tele, or, to cheer each other in our fitness journeys.

Pizza…preferably domino’s pepperoni, Green peppers and onion…and potato wedges… and cheesy garlic bread. And Wine.
Greatest moment in sport
Completing 12 marathons in 12 months (with an added bonus marathon) in 2016 raising funds for MND Scotland. Total of 22 marathons so far.
One piece of advice for aspiring sports people/ athletes
Don’t give up and keep working hard, even when you feel like you aren’t moving forwards you absolutely are, failure is absolutely part of success. Look after yourself, mentally and physically and don’t ever doubt yourself. Other people will doubt you, don’t listen to them.
Where do you go to relax and switch off?
I read, a lot. My sons are 2, 4 and 6, so I don’t get to switch off and go places to relax – so sometimes my favourite end of the couch with a glass of wine and a book is enough just to let me escape and get some breathing space. I also really love to play music (talent may be lacking) and recently started playing the Saxophone again. Between this and listening to musicals (if you need inspiration, you need ‘Hamilton’ in your life) I get an escape every now and then.
Sometimes just being in my studio or clinic is enough to relax me too. I don’t need to do anything in there. I sometimes lie on my massage couch and just sit still. Despite it being my work place, it makes me feel good. That’s probably how I really switch off.
Do you have a nickname? If so how did you get it?
I am not big on nicknames, but I do get called Claire Bear or Bear. Only a couple of people call me by this name, but they are my favourite people so it is more special and I love it. One of my oldest friends also calls me “Davies”, my maiden name. I would hate for anyone else to call me by my surname, but somehow she gets away with it.
Training session you hate but know is most beneficial?
I am also not a fan of hill work , but I know it absolutely pays dividends when it comes to fitness and speed so it needs to be done!
I used to shy away from the treadmill, however it because a valuable part of my exercise routine when I was pregnant. I bought a second hand one when pregnant with my third son. I wasn’t sure if I would get the use of it so didn’t want to invest too much in one. But it fast became a favourite and so I bought a new one. Now I know that if I didn’t have it I wouldn’t manage to fit in a lot of what I do.
Where to next?
I am working on building my business (just moved to a new premises), more fundraising and more sports, and tying them in as much as I can. In my work in my clinic I deal with people, mostly, on a one to one basis. I love this, not only because I get to physically help them but also, over time, getting to know them and hear their stories and this may help them in other ways. My business varies from client to client, but the basis is the same, that each of us (every single person) has different needs to the next person. From clients who are competitive athletes to pre and post natal clients, each one of us is different. I am been inspired and had so much joy from the people who I have met.
I recently published a book, “Mother Running Twelve” based on the 12 marathons in 12 months that I ran from Nov 2015 to October 2016, the “12in12” and why the cause, raising funds for MND Scotland, means so much to me. It’s become more than just running now, it means so much more especially when it gets people talking, not only about what we do, but also the “hows” and “whys” that they have for things they do in their lives, no matter what it is.
My personal challenge for 2017 is to run 12 marathons in 1 month (July) again raising funds for MND Scotland, so that’s my current training goal.
So to answer your question, “where to?” I guess that depends on what life has in store for me.
