My friend Rachel and I have been friends since School.
Despite her having the brains of Britain and me being more of an arty farty loon bin, we gel.
We have a similar interest in the fickle things like coffee and tennis viewing, but we also share a similar spiritual faith and have great chats when we find the time between raising families and building our own careers.
Without going into too much detail, Rachel and I found some common ground talking about dementia and Alzhiemer’s and we came up with the idea of raising some funds. The initial project derived from Rachel running the marathon and this being a way we could boost proceeds for Alzheimer’s society. Then it became a separate way for us to link raising funds, showcasing a new product for me outside of paper art prints, and a means of awareness of the disease that is Alzheimer’s.
After many meet ups and a thousand what’s app messages (mostly on my part, I get terribly excited about designing stuff) we reached the idea for a water bottle. A bottle that long distance runners and sports people alike could use, but also one that transported easily and had an encouraging message on it.
As both of us were runners we found the simplest quote to encompass our thoughts on running and the journey of the unknown that is Alzheimer’s, was simply “Run On”.
Not much to it really, yet it symbolises so much. When you run for long periods of time, or sweat while building muscle at the gym, your only thought sometimes is to just get on with it. Keep going.
That was our thinking.
The bottle and A6 special edition print costs£2o and you can see them above.
Should you wish to pre order simply drop your e mail in the comments below and I will invoice you.
Hopefully we can raise awareness and big funds for this charity that is so dear to both of our hearts!
